Louie’s Kids announces the creation of a wellness fund in memory of the man who inspired the organization, Louis S. Yuhasz, also known as “Big Louie.”
The Louis S. Yuhasz Jr. Memorial Health Fund at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will award multiple grants each year to organizations in the Middle Tennessee community committed to combating the childhood obesity epidemic. Louie’s Kids presented a $13,000 donation to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee on June 26, 2013. The fundraising initiative for the donation was spearheaded by Chef Bob Waggoner of Watermark Restaurant who hosted a Celebrity Chefs’ Dinner in January. The culinary event, called “Resolutions” featured Chef Michelle Weaver of Charleston Grill and Chef Frank Lee of Slightly North of Borad, both highly acclaimed restaurants in downtown Charleston, SC.
Louie’s Kids and The Foundation will work together to identify programs in line with the Louie’s Kids mission to empower kids to make physical and mental changes for a healthier and more productive life.
